One (1) maintenance position is available with the Laurel Public Schools. This is a Level VI, full-time, year-round position with a beginning wage of $15.29 per hour.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least two years work experience in general maintenance, building, and construction work; or a combination of training and experience which provides the required level of knowledge and skill.
- High School Diploma.
- Valid Montana driver’s license.
- Knowledge of basic tools, equipment, terms, and practices used in building maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of basic safety practices related to maintenance, grounds care, and custodial work.
- Knowledge of common hand and power tool usage.
- Demonstrate proficient use of tools, material, and equipment involved in general building maintenance work including painting, plumbing, glass installation, etc.
- Ability to work from plans/specifications; plan and organize details of a work schedule efficiently.
- Work effectively without close supervision.
- Maintain records and prepare reports, as required.
- Be in good physical condition and able to perform heavy physical labor.
- Ability to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of a workday.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively manage time and responsibilities.
- A boilers license is preferred or successful applicant must be willing to obtain one.
- Successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs duties related to the general care and maintenance of the District’s buildings (interior/exterior),lawns, fields and surrounding areas, including snow removal.
- Performs duties related to daily maintenance and repair of the District’s utility systems (heat, water,electrical, etc.).
- Assists with the delivery/receipt of supplies, transfer/placement of items and furniture as requested.
- Assists the Athletic Department in the maintenance and preparation of the District’s facilities.
- Performs unskilled and semiskilled duties in a variety of trades.
- Keeps plumbing and drainage systems clear and in working order.
- Notifies the Facilities Director of any hazards, accidents, injuries or equipment failure immediately.
- Exercises caution and adheres to established district safety policies.
- Assembles/builds furniture and other structures.
- Makes minor adjustments and keeps equipment in good repair.
